Sibling Shoot–Memphis, TN– Children Portraits

Posted on January 28, 2010

As I mentioned in my last post, while the kids and I were locked out in the cold, I snapped several shots of both kids.  Here are some of the rest of my photo session with them.

Valentines-39

Valentines-66

Valentines-103-Gideon

This is one of my new favorite shots of Gideon.  He’s growing up before my eyes!  The other day he walked into the kitchen to get his own juice, and I had to scoop him up in my arms because I was all too aware that he’s going to get too big for me to do that before I’m ready.

Enjoy your kids at every stage.  Capture those precious baby cheeks (like Naomi’s) before they are gone (like Gideon’s). :)

Entering a Contest–Memphis, TN–Children Portraits

Posted on January 26, 2010

I would LOVE to win THIS.

Here is my entry (as of right now).

Valentines-128Naomi-

The photo shoot didn’t go as I’d hoped.  As soon as we left the house, I realized that I’d left my reflectors inside.  The light was HORRIBLE for what I was trying to do.  Reflectors would’ve helped, but they were locked inside, while the kids and I (without coats) were locked outside.  So we made the best of it.  … just rollin’ with the punches…  Until I took the suckers away.  (Way to go, Mom!)  I finally called JR and he came to unlock the door for us.

I may (if I get a chance) try to snap a few more pics tomorrow, before the Jan. 28th deadline.

Even if I don’t win the spot in the workshop, at least I have a great picture to use for Naomi’s Valentine’s Day cards. :)

And, just a reminder, January is almost over which means my New Year special is almost over.

Specialized Valentine’s Cards–Memphis, TN–Children’s Portraits

Posted on January 24, 2010

I’ve been playing around with Valentine’s today.  I thought I’d show you some of my stuff.  (Some of the base designs for the cards are from Willette.)

Gideon is really into playing with his Bumblebee.  While he slept, I played with “shaped bokeh”.  So, since the bokeh is in the shape of hearts, I thought I’d turn the photos into personalized Valentine’s day cards for G-dawg.  (He really likes them.)

Here are two I worked up for Naomi.

What to do for Valentine’s Day…–Memphis, TN–Portraits

Posted on January 19, 2010

Folks, let’s face it.  Once we have our wedding photos taken as a couple, we pretty much think we’re done.  Who cares that we’ve been married for 13 years.  We still know we love each other because we have that picture of us from our wedding gathering dust sitting on the desk.

I say it’s time to shake things up.  Show to the world what a marriage looks like with years of love to give it a backbone!  Let the world see that just because you aren’t in a tux and wedding gown that you still “got IT”!

Be hopelessly romantic and plan a day of together-time that includes capturing your standing-the-test-of-time love in a photo session.

Remember, my New Year’s deal is still going on:

If you book a photo session* now, through the month of January, the session fee will be HALF PRICE. Just look at all you get for $50! (for up to 4 people)

-Initial consultation by phone or e-mail
-Photographer’s time and talent
-Relaxed shoot for up to 4 people (each additional person is an additional $15 $7) for as long as we need to get the shots you want with the light available
-Image preparation and re-touching to make your photos look their very best. (This can take many hours.)
-I will place a few “Preview Shots” on facebook and my blog within a few days of the photo shoot.
-A photo preview, within 2-3 weeks of the shoot will be scheduled, where you will view 30-40 proofs from which you may place your order. Orders taken during the photo viewing will be discounted 10%.
-A password-protected on-line gallery will be provided for friends and family to view. They will also be able to order their own prints directly from the web-site.

So, schedule your photo session with me during January and get the discount.  If you want to schedule it as a Valentine’s present, then I will send you a custom designed card that you can present to your better half as part of your gift.

The top 10 people get to send me a photo they want to use for their profile picture and I will run it through Photoshop.

Family Snow Day–Memphis, TN, Family Portraiture

Posted on January 7, 2010

Today my kids experienced snow for the first time. And yes, it was just a dusting (really), but we played in it as a family as if it were 10 inches!

I love my family!

I Luh-huve them!!!

Posted on January 6, 2010

My photos came in the other day, but I didn’t have what I was planning on using to hang them handy. (minor brain slippage there)

Today I hung them.

Here’s how I display my photos on my wall.

and from the other angle…

You can see part of JR’s laptop in this one. :)

Gideon’s reaction when he walked into our living room and saw them was priceless. He was really excited. And when Naomi walked in, all she could do was excitedly exclaim all the names of the people in the pictures she was looking at. (so much fun!)

Don’t you want something like this on your wall?

Burchfield Kiddos–Searcy, AR–Children’s Portraiture

Posted on January 3, 2010

Back in November I did a mini-session with the Burchfield kids. When I shot their entire family (including aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and dogs), the boys weren’t feeling well. So we rescheduled to get some sibling shots.

There mom was after some specific shots to go along with one of the family shots from the first shoot. And we got ‘em! Here are my three favorites.
